2011 – The Siege
Bogota, November 6, 1985. Members of the M-19 guerrilla group take Colombias High Court of Justice. The military respond turning Bogota’s Bolívar Square into a battlefield and claiming the lives of dozens. Another dozen people are reported missing in the aftermath and 25 years down the line, Colonel Luís Alfonso Plazas Vega is tried for his role in their disappearance.
A trial that unfolds amid threats in a polarized political atmosphere, capturing the attention of the media and public opinion, and setting a precedent in terms of the integrity of Colombia’s justice system.
La Toma combines extraordinary unseen archival footage of the siege with the courtroom drama of Colonel Plazas Vega, creating an action-packed, entertaining film with a complex political context.
